Spa Treatments & Hydrotherapy Baths

COURSE OBJECTIVES
This intensive course teaches
the use of whirlpool tubs for use in hydrotherapy to be used alone
or with integration with spa therapies, history and methods of hydrotherapy,
spa treatments without a wet room, basic body wrapping techniques,
exfoliating with salt, grains, sugar or dry body brushing, various
wraps using masques, muds and gels, treatment setups and breakdowns,
benefits and contraindications of products and treatments.
LEARNING ACTIVITIES
This course consists of classroom lecture, handouts, demonstrations,
hands-on practice, question and answer sessions, and final supervised
practicals. Students will observe, receive and demonstrate wrap treatments,
hydrotherapy baths and body exfoliations. Instructor will give feedback
during practicals, and a written exam will be given at the end of
the class. Each student will complete a course evaluation.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
At the end of this class, students will be able to:
1. learn to operate and care for spa equipment
2. verbalize the benefits of hydrotherapy baths, body wraps and exfoliations
3. verbalize the contraindications and cautions to consider for each
treatment
4. set up a treatment room and prepare products for wraps and hydrotherapy
baths
5. perform full body exfoliation using either dry body brushing, salt,
sugar or grain exfoliates
6. apply masks and muds to the body as well as remove with hot towels
or have client bathe or shower off in an appropriate and modesty protecting
manner.
7. perform massage techniques complimentary to treatment(s)
8. perform complete exfoliations and body wraps with or without a
wetroom
9. demonstrate room cleanup, maintenance and sanitization of both
the hydrotherapy tub and instruments used during wraps.
COURSE PREREQUISITES
Applicants must be a certified or licensed massage therapy practitioner
or esthetician, and must possess current liability insurance.
COURSE REQUIREMENTS AND TESTING
All requirements must be met in order to receive a Certificate of
Achievement.
Students must attend the entire course, fulfill all learning outcomes,
obtain a score of 75% or higher on the written test, and perform two
acceptable practicals witnessed by the instructor, ONE 60 minute body
wrap and ONE 60 minute hydrotherapy bath w/ exfoliation, and moisturizer
application.
YOUR INSTRUCTOR
Elizabeth G. Ward graduated from the Center
for massage and Natural Health in Asheville, NC and has worked in
both therapeutic and world class spa environments for 4 years. In
addition to her 600 hours of training in school, she has received
extensive training and experience in hot stone therapy, aromatherapy
massage, reiki, foot reflexology, neuromuscular therapy and myofascial
release, hydrotherapy, pregnancy care, Hawaiian Lomi Lomi, and a multitude
of spa treatment therapies such as body wraps and skin care. Beth
holds licenses to practice massage in North Carolina, Tennessee and
is an NCBTMB Certified Practitioner.
COURSE
LOCATION & SCHEDULE
Grace Healing Therapies Day Spa, 416 E. Jackson Blvd, Ste 4, Jonesborough,
TN 37659. This facility is handicap accessible and we will make the
appropriate accommodations for the teaching learning and examination
processes, where possible. Participants must be able to do body work
utilizing a massage table. Class Size is limited to four people per
class to ensure maximum learning. We hope to increase this in the
future as we expand .This course is covered from 9 AM to 6 PM,
over a three day period.

REGISTRATION, COST & CANCELLATION
This instructor is currently under review by the NCTMB board to become
an approved provider. All participants will receive 25 full contact
hours which are NCTMB approved AFTER this instructor's approval is
final (this process will take about 4-6 months). Since these CEU's
are not immediately NCTMB approved, a discount will be given to every
student who enrolls before the approved provider number is granted
. Discount Course Fee: $300*. Please bring one fitted sheet and
two flat sheets, (twin size), face cradle cover and paper and pencil.
*After NCTMB Approval is final, the cost of this course will increase
to$425.00 per student.
A 50% deposit is required at time of registration. If a class
is canceled due to low enrollment, you will receive a full refund
within two weeks of cancellation. If you withdraw with a two week
advance notice, you will receive a full refund, less a $35.00 processing
fee. Late withdrawal from class, failure to attend, or missing portions
of a class do not constitute official withdrawal and NO credit will
be issued.
